The easiest way to make a DVD-Video or to convert for editing (HD & DV) without losing quality
image

For a non-personal use…

The registration from the main page of the site is ONLY for personal AND private purpose (thus non-commercial, nor professional, nor for companies, … this list is not exhaustive, see definition above).

The use of MovieConverter (a Graphical User Interface for free open-tools) for non-personal nor private purposes is 75€ per license:
  • Including no special support (same as personal users).
  • And no additional license or the open tools you agreed to download (depending on the applicable laws in your country/state, you must -or not- pay a fee to owners of patents to be legal).

Additional features: a better management/control with interlaced videos.

(New version 1.5)

Force output to Progressive (MPEG2 and DV), 3 new modes :

  • Output Progressive : your Progressive source remains systematically progressive once converted to MPEG2 or DV (even if standard conversion PAL<->NTSC Video).
  • Selective deinterlace: only deinterlace the intelaced parts of a frame versus the other, preserving the rest of the image.
  • Full deinterlace: deinterlace your entire image.
namely, these options may include:
  • A loss of fluid (eg PAL: a progressive output in PAL has "only" 25 different images per second instead of 50 fps with interlacing).
  • More visible ghosts during some standard conversions (visible in still picture, not during broadcasting ;))
  • Some artifacts with the selective deinterlace mode (and always… visible in still picture, not during broadcasting ;))
  • If possible, avoid to force a Progressive Output -during standard conversion- if your source is a Cartoon with black outlines (half-tones images are more cool ;))
But if your specification requires a progressive output, you have no choice but quality will be still there!

(Since version 1.3)

Better management of interlaced: rescale or change field order of interlaced streams (MPEG2 and DV)

Example with images (Etta James concert on American television), conversion from a 4:3 NTSC to 16:9 PAL.

Original image (4:3 anamorphic NTSC):
Master

Image obtained with the "personal and private" registration (16:9 anamorphic PAL):
RescaleNormal

Image obtained with your registration (16:9 anamorphic PAL):
RescalePro

this increase in quality is not only reflected during a standard conversion, but in any rescale of an interlaced stream (including without change of standard), as well as a reversal of field order (classic case of DVD/DVB-T/JVC Everio/… converted to DV).

Thank you to verify your purpose before registration of the GUI (or I can refund the basic GUI fee, aka MovieConverter).

In addition,

you can also make donations to these wonderful unix tools (but I fear they are not taxes deductible, …perhaps with gifts/hardware?):
- FFmpeg
- MjpegTools
(and check the credits page for additional credits/links).

Good videos :-)
PS: for information, I'm not a Software Editor, just a freelance illustrator for children books (and video is my "hobby").
